A path less trodden will reward you with an unmolested landscape, some new views, a lesson or two in navigation and lot less people along the way!

We climbed Cnicht from the Hertfordshire Climbing centre at the start of the Watkin Path (Snowdon route). This was a long route, not just because of the distance, but because of the terrain. Because of the big drop in visitors to this mountain, there are no well worn paths to follow, this meant we spent a lot of time walking across very boggy meadow. The route also took in some steeper sections and even some scrambling, which I wasn't expecting with an 18 month old strapped to me!

Cnicht stands at 689 meters tall, but despite its short stature compared to Snowdon (1,085) it was still approximately nine miles and eight hours out. A great HEC Christmas meet with perfect weather to boot.

HEC is the Harpenden Expedition Club, started and organised by some very selfless outdoor enthusiasts keen to create access to the great outdoors for the youth of Harpenden and beyond. Becky was a member in her own youth, we joined many adventures in a supporting capacity and where very grateful for the opportunity too.
